Where Imagination Becomes Art

Born and raised in Kerala, Sajila K. Peralassery is a contemporary artist whose practice blends color, form, and emotion into a distinct visual language. Influenced by Frida Kahlo and Vincent van Gogh, her works explore both abstract figurative and semi-abstract expressions, often described as “Frozen Poetry.”

Her landscapes are celebrated not as mere depictions of nature, but as immersive experiences rich with texture, rhythm, and harmony—a sensibility inherited from her grandfather, a traditional handloom weaver. This lineage instilled in her a natural affinity for hues, patterns, and organic balance, which continue to shape her art.

Skilled across oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen, pencil, relief, sculpture, and knife painting, Sajila balances her artistic journey with her role as a Drawing Teacher at KEMS Panoor. She is also deeply passionate about poetry, expanding her creative expression beyond the visual.

Her work has been showcased in solo exhibitions at Space Gallery, Kannur (2024) and Kathirur Panchayath Gallery (2025), as well as in group shows at Cholamandal Artists’ Village, Chennai and multiple Lalitkala Akademi Galleries across Kerala. She has participated in major art camps and residencies throughout India and is the recipient of the Best Art Teacher Award (2023) and recognition from the Thapasya International Art Foundation, Chennai.
